After a couple of inactive weeks, KW were slow to get going in their
latest Cumbria Ladies League match against Crown Newlaithes from
Carlisle, with neither goal being threatened in the opening 20
minutes.
Once Joanne Thompson scored when she followed up a Faye Armstrong shot, the goals came at regular intervals for the rest of the half. Michelle Raven's cross evaded everyone and crept in at the back post, Hannah Crosdale swept in another cross from the right and Lauren Downham pounced as Crown Newlaithes failed to clear a corner.
Making several changes at half time seemed to upset KWs rhythm and Crown N created several scoring opportunities but never really tested stand in goalkeeper Nikita Morton. Despite missing a penalty, KW went further ahead when Faye Armstrong latched onto a through ball and placed it calmly passed the keeper.
Crown N did pull one goal back, but KW added to their tally with Grania Shankley's powerful shot and Brooke Kenny stretching well to divert a wayward shot into the goal.
