Match Reports 2009-10
> Whitehaven 4 - 0 Kendal Wattsfield (Sunday 6th December 2009)
Kendal Wattsfields unbeaten start to the season ended in the blustery
conditions at Whitehaven. Playing on an unfamiliar surface and into a
very strong wind in the first half, KW contained the Whitehaven attack
to half chances and once they realised that they could compete with their
strong, physical opponents, they created a couple of their own chances
late in the half.
Having battled exceptionally well in the first half, KW lost the match in a six minute spell immediately following the break. Poor marking allowed the Whitehaven forwards to run through and place their shots past keeper Kim Lupton for the first two goals, with the third being bundled over the line following a very good free kick.
KW could have folded and conceded more, but they regained their composure and began to compete again. KW created very little in clear goal scoring opportunities, the best chance falling to Joanne Thompson, but her attempted lob over the keeper was wayward. Whitehaven completed the scoring with eight minutes remaining, when their excellent centre-forward stepped inside Katie Brown and curled the ball over Kim and into the net.
